The Embassy of Japan in Cyprus would like to announce a vacancy for the full time position of Butler at the Ambassador’s Official Residence. Qualified applicants may send us an application as per the detailed instructions below.

Description of tasks

1.  Butler duties

• Formal table service and service of drinks, Meeting of guests
• Chef’s assistant
• Flower arranging and table decorations
• Care of porcelain, silver, crystal
• Care and inventory of artwork and antiques

2. Maintenance of Residence

• General maintenance (ex. Replacing a light bulb)
• Boiler maintenance
• Pool maintenance
• Garden maintenance
• Control security equipment
• Co-ordination and scheduling of service contractors
• Sourcing items and ingredients

3.  Other

• Kitchen Hand for chef
• Shopping companion for chef
• Substitute when maid is absent (General Cleaning, washing dishes etc.)
• Other tasks required by the Embassy

 

Work schedule (days and hours)

• Monday – Friday: 8:15 to 16:45 hours or 8:30 to 17:00 (Lunch break: 12:30 – 13:15)
• (Holidays: Saturday and Sundays, and other holidays determined by the Embassy.)

 

Salary

• Around 1,354 EUR

 

Qualifications required

1. Good command of both English and Greek
2. A long-term residence status with working permit.
3. Familiarity with garden maintenance, building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and fire/security.
4. A good eye for detail and desire to take responsibility, through to resolution, for issue and concerns generated by guests.
5. Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel etc.)
6. Ability to multitask.
7. Capable to work autonomously and on own initiative.
8. Must maintain discretion and be trustworthy.
