Position Overview:

As a Factory Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment within the manufacturing facility. Your primary responsibility will be to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of industrial machinery to minimize downtime, maximize productivity, and uphold safety standards. You will work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to support the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the factory’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Machinery Maintenance:

  • Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on factory machinery and equipment.
  • Identify mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems, and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks to minimize unplanned downtime and equipment failures.

Equipment Repair:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in industrial machines.
  • Replace or repair defective parts and components as necessary.
  • Calibrate machinery and fine-tune settings to ensure optimal performance.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect equipment for safety hazards and address any potential risks promptly.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to enhance overall workplace safety.

Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:

  • Analyze equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Act quickly and decisively during emergency breakdowns to minimize production disruptions.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to log work orders and track equipment history.

Spare Parts Management:

  • Coordinate with the inventory team to ensure an adequate supply of spare parts and consumables.
  • Make recommendations for spare parts ordering to prevent extended downtime.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other maintenance team members and collaborate with production and engineering teams to address equipment-related issues.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding maintenance activities and repair progress.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in maintenance procedures and contribute to the implementation of best practices.
  • Suggest and support the implementation of measures to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is a plus.
  • Proven experience (typically 2+ years) as a mechanic or maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for diagnostics and repairs.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and basic computer skills.
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions and environments.
